Just got back from my third tour in Iraq. What a waste of time and money. Not that I'm knocking the money we made, heavens no, but I have to wonder about the feasability of paying every soldier $1,000 per month after a 12 month tour. If anyone has been away from their loved ones for any length of time, consider being away from them for 15 months. I have seen infidelity and divorces and straight out abuse from spouses, it's insane. How can you concentrate on convoys and watching out for IEDs when you just received an email from someone who knows your spouse and tells you they've moved Jody into the house you're paying for? I saw more blood and guts in my tour than I saw in the previous two put together. How do you medically treat an insurgent who was burying an IED and it blew up on him, blowing off his arm and leg? And they want us to treat him. Some things just defy description or sense.
